Circular economy is an economic concept related to sustainability; its objective is to maintain the value of products, materials and resources in the economy for as long as possible, and reduce to minimum the generation of waste. It is about implementing a new circular economy – not linear – based on the principle of “closing the life cycle” of products, services, waste, materials, water and energy.

As a strategy, the circular economy aims to reduce both the entry of materials and the production of waste, closing the “loops” or economic and ecological flows of resources.
